New flights to Kinshasa

Airlink recently announced that it will be adding a new regional route to its roster, with flights from Johannesburg to Kinshasa in The Democratic Republic of the Congo.

As reported by Travel News, the new direct flights will begin from 28 March next year and will operate three times a week with modern 98-seat Embraer E190 twin-engine aircraft.

“The DR Congo is a significant market for Airlink.  We first stepped into the ring in 2020 with flights to Lubumbashi and now we are ready to follow through by adding Kinshasa to our formidable regional network. This will give customers on the route far greater reach and travel options than they currently enjoy. Kinshasa is a regional heavyweight. Besides serving as the country’s political and economic capital, it is Africa’s most populous city with over 17 million inhabitants. With Airlink’s combination of schedule, connections and great service we expect to have a knock-out response,” Airlink CEO and MD, Rodger Foster said

Flight schedule

Flights will operate according to the following schedule:

  • Flights will depart Johannesburg at 20:30 and arrive in Kinshasa at 23:40 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
  • Return flights will then depart Kinshasa at 00:25 and arrive in Johannesburg at 05:30 on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

More flights along two African routes

Airlink also recently announced additional flights along two of its African routes departing Johannesburg – to Biera, Mozambique and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The airline now operates daily flights between OR Tambo International Airport and Mozambique’s Beira International Airport from 18 September.

Airlink had been flying to Beira six days a week. Now, a further return flight on Wednesdays has been added.

Additionally, the airline also announced on X that it had added another flight along its Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam, Tanzia route, starting 21 September.

This additional flight to Dar es Salaam will go out on Saturdays.
