Kidnapped Gqeberha businessman: Kidnappers demand R26M
The Hawks have confirmed that a ransom demand of R26 million has been made for the kidnapped Gqeberha businessman.
It was revealed this past week that kidnapped Gqeberha businessman Neal Ah-Tow had been taken outside his fishery as he was about to open his store early on Friday morning.
According to the South African Police Service, “SAPS Algoa Park detectives are still searching for a Gqeberha businessman, Neal Ah-Tow (58) who was kidnapped on Friday morning, 01 March 2024, outside his fishery in Crichton Street in Sidwell. He was shoved into a silver Chev Cruz vehicle by five armed men.”
It’s now reported by AlgoaFM that Hawks Spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela has confirmed a ransom demand was received on Tuesday morning at an amount of 1.4 million US dollars (roughly R26.7m).
Mgolodela added that it implied that the suspects could be foreign nationals.

On Facebook, SAPS posted the following message: “Police are appealing to anyone who may know anything relating to this incident or can assist in tracing him, to contact SAPS Algoa Park, D/WO Errol Kleinhans on 083 243 4567 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or make use of the My SAPS App to send information.”
Meanwhile, Saps Algoa Park’s detectives are investigating a case of kidnapping, but have yet to report any leads in ascertaining more insight into Ah-Tow’s whereabouts.
