Orlando Pirates were the biggest winners from this past weekend’s latest round of league action after clinching a 2-0 victory over Maritzburg United at the Orlando Stadium on Friday.
It was a result that saw them move up to third position on the log, and there is clearly a real confidence about the Buccaneers at the moment.
By contrast, a depleted Kaizer Chiefs team slipped to a 3-2 defeat at the Peter Mokaba Stadium despite Sfiso Hlanti and Mduduzi Shabalala having twice put Amakhosi into the lead.
Chiefs are still fifth on the log, but they are now three points behind Pirates, and still as many as 27 points behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
