The South African Weather Service has advised Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre that an intense cold front is expected on Sunday night into Monday, resulting in cold weather, gale force winds and significant sea swells between Cape Columbine and Plettenberg Bay.
Heavy downpours are expected in places during the same period, which might result in localised flooding, the weather service said. High seas with waves in excess of 6 metres are expected between Columbine and Plettenberg Bay.
Snowfall is expected on the mountains of the Western Cape from Monday afternoon, spreading to the Eastern Cape.
“All city services and external agencies to be on standby to deal with the predicted adverse weather conditions.”
