SASSA and Postbank have informed grant recipients that they must replace their SASSA Gold Card with the new Black Card.
The deadline set for this transition is by the end of February 2025. From March, no grant beneficiary will be able to receive payments using the SASSA card. Recipients who are bedridden can also be helped to do the switch – here’s all you need to know.
REPLACING SASSA GOLD CARD FOR SOMEONE WHO IS BEDRIDDEN
Grant beneficiaries collecting the Black Card themselves only require their ID. However, when replacing the SASSA Gold Card for someone else, like a bedridden recipient, another document is required.
Individuals will also need to obtain an official SASSA letter. They can get it by visiting a SASSA office near them. The letter will help confirm that the bedridden beneficiary is in fact receiving a SASSA grant.
WHERE ARE THE POSTBANK BLACK CARD COLLECTION SITES?
The Postbank Black Card collection sites are at various stores around the country. Selected Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay, and USave retailers help SASSA beneficiaries to switch their SASSA Gold Card.
Certain provinces have more easily accessible collection sites than others. Postbank had previously communicated that they would be visiting some areas to help recipients replace their cards.
