Gauteng residents warned to brace for severe thunderstorms
The SA Weather Service said the first spring thunderstorms are expected over Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.
The South Africa Weather Service has warned Gauteng residents to brace themselves for severe storms this coming week.
Regional forecaster Gauteng Weather said the province should expect evening thunderstorms.
“The SA Weather (Saws) has issued a warning for the possibility of severe thunderstorms in Gauteng late on Sunday.”

Following a hot windy Saturday in most areas in Gauteng, temperatures are expected to cool off on Sunday, going into the week.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN GAUTENG LATE ON SUNDAY
“Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms. Warning valid for 15 October 2023 until 23:00 SAST. Impacts: Strong winds and heavy rain resulting in flooding, hail, and lightning. Areas affected: Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga,” said the SA Weather Service.

A Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of susceptible settlements, roads, low-lying areas and bridges is expected.
For Johannesburg, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 17°C with isolated thunderstorms.
Pretoria will see a maximum of 19°C.

For Monday, the SA Weather Service has predicted heavy rain in most regions in the northern part of the country. Temperatures are expected to drop into the low teens.
Motorists have been advised to take precautions during the wet weather conditions.
