Idols SA has confirmed that Gareth Cliff has resigned as a judge on the popular M-Net entertainment show.
“We are grateful for his contribution to the show over the last 11 seasons and we wish him well with his future endeavours,” said Idols SA.
Earlier Monday, the presenter had updated his Facebook status, saying: “It’s time! After eleven seasons of Idols, it’s time for me to say goodbye.
“What better way to bring this chapter to a close than a trip to New York and meeting American Idols judge Harry Connick Jr and being on his post-Idols show – “Harry”.
“What’s next? Watch this space…… #Cliffhanger.”
Gareth posted photos of his trip to New York (above) along with his message.
Earlier this year Gareth was dismissed from the show after he was drawn into the Penny Sparrow controversy, but at the end of January 2016 the Joburg High Court ruled that he had to be reinstated as an Idols judge with immediate effect.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bonang replaces Gareth Cliff as well. #TheNextGarethCliff pic.twitter.com/7c5AO8Fh1E
