Free Gautrain rides for supporters who will welcome Springboks at OR Tambo
The Springboks will land at the OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday, 31 October and Gautrain is offering free train rides.
Gautrain says it will offer free of charge travel to Springboks supporters travelling to and from OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday, 31 October 2023 from 10:00 to 15:00 only on Tuesday, 31 October.
FREE GAUTRAIN SERVICE TO SPRINGBOKS SUPPORTERS
The Springboks defeated New Zealand 12 – 11 in a thrilling final in Paris, France and won the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
They became the only team to have lifted the Webb Ellis Cup four times and back-to-back, having won it in 2019 in Japan.
They left France for South Africa on Monday morning and they are expected to land at the OR Tambo International Airport at 10:55 on Tuesday, 31 October.

The free train service is only available from Park, Sandton, Midrand, and Pretoria stations for persons wearing Springbok or South African colours without luggage.
Gautrain Management Agency Chief Executive Officer Designate, Tshepo Kgobe said as the Gautrain they couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of the celebrations and play their part by transporting Bokke supporters.
“The Springboks deserve a rousing South African welcome, we are bursting with pride,” he said.

The following terms and conditions apply:
- The free train service is only available from Park, Sandton, Midrand, and Pretoria stations
- Only persons wearing Springbok or South African colours without luggage, can use the free train service
- When travelling to the airport, the free service is only between 10:00 and 12:00
- When returning from the airport, the free service is only between 12:30 and 15:00.
- Free travel is limited to the train service and does not include Gautrain buses and minibuses.

HERE’S WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE WEBB ELLIS CUP
The Springboks will embark on a trophy tour on Thursday, 2 November.
The tour will start in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Soweto – concluding at FNB Stadium – on Thursday, 2 November, and take in Cape Town (Friday, 3 November) and Durban (Saturday, 4 November) before concluding in the Eastern Cape (East London) on Sunday, 5 November.
The locations have been selected for population size in the first three instances and because of the Eastern Cape’s rugby significance in the fourth.
