eThekwini water disruptions force AKA murder case to adjourn early
The AKA murder case resumed at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday but proceedings were cut short when water supply was disrupted.
Proceedings were cut short at the Durban Magistrate’s Court where five of the seven suspects charged with the murder of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes applied for bail.
The five men appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 March for a formal bail application. Proceedings were cut short as there was no water in the building.
AKA MURDER SUSPECTS APPLY FOR BAIL
As previously reported by The South African, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi (30), Lindelani Ndimade (30), Siyanda Myeza (22), Mziwethemba Gwabeni (36), and Lindokuhle Ndimande (29) are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder (Forbes), murder (Motsoane), unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder.
Legal representatives of accused 1 and 2 read their affidavits into the record. Affidavits for the other three accused were not ready.
On the last court appearance the State added two more charges of money laundering to the charge sheet.
Mkhwanazi said the State’s case is weak and that detectives are clutching at straws.
The alleged hitman said he intends to plead not guilty as the State does not have enough evidence linking him to the offence. He also accused police of assaulting him to extort a confession.
Furthermore, Mkhwanazi said he does not have previous convictions but is out on bai for another matter.
The matter was postponed to Monday, 18 March. The suspects will remain in custody.

TONY FORBES BELIEVES MORE PEOPLE WERE INVOLVED
AKA’s father, Tony Forbes, was also in court to face those accused of killing his son.
Forbes echoed the same sentiments he shared in the first court appearance. On Thursday, he said he believes more people were behind his son’s murder.
Also, Forbes said he had mentally prepared himself for possible delays and acknowledged that finishing would take time.
This is especially true considering the two suspects arrested in Mbabane are yet to be deported from the Kingdom of Eswatini.
