In a recent announcement, eThekwini residents in various neighborhoods have been alerted to an impending water supply interruption originating from the Woodlands and Bluff 1 Reservoirs.
The cause of this inconvenience is the repair of a malfunctioning 450mm valve, a crucial component in the water distribution system.

AREAS AFFECTED ETHEKWINI
The areas directly affected by this temporary disruption include Austerville, Montclair, Sea View, Wentworth, Woodlands, Yellowwood Park, Fynnlands, Grosvenor, Ocean View, and Van Riebeeck Park. Residents in these locations are urged to make necessary preparations for the upcoming pause in water availability.
Efforts to rectify the issue are already underway, with dedicated teams currently on-site conducting repairs on the defective valve. To facilitate the repair work, the outlets of the reservoirs have been temporarily closed, effectively isolating the affected areas.

To mitigate the impact on residents, tanker trucks will be dispatched to supply water and provide relief in the zones served by the affected reservoirs.
The repair process is anticipated to take approximately two days, with completion expected 30 November 2023. Continuous updates on the progress of the repairs will be communicated to keep residents informed about the restoration of normal water services.

“Work is expected to be completed in two days. Updates will be provided about progress made,” said the City.
