More SA flights on the cards for Eswatini Air
Swaziland’s regional airline, Eswatini Air may introduce more capacity to a South African city soon. Here’s more details…
Eswatini Air considers more flights
Eswatini Air recently revealed that it may be considering increasing flight capacity to Johannesburg, which would mean a new service to Lanseria International Airport.
According to Simple Flying, the airline also plans to fly to all countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to connect the kingdom to its neighbors and trade partners.
The airline’s Commercial Director, Getaneh Woldemichael said that Eswatini Air had a mandate to expand its operations within Southern Africa.
“We have a mandate to deepen the integration to all the SADC countries, so they are on the cards. We are looking at some destinations and evaluating which ones are easy to mature within two to three years. We are considering adding a number of new routes in 2025 and introducing dedicated freighter services to contribute to the Eswatini economy as well as regional economies.” Woldemichael told Simple Flying.
“Johannesburg is a major regional hub, so it is our key route. We think that by converting some of the road users to air, we might increase frequencies. We don’t know at this stage whether it will be OR Tambo or not, but between us and our competitor, we think OR Tambo is being served very well. We might be looking at Lanseria to give travelers an alternative, especially those visiting Pretoria and the northern suburbs.” Woldemichael added.
CURRENT OPERATING SCHEDULE
The airline currently operates two 50-seater Embraer ERJ145 aircraft on routes to South Africa. The South African flight schedule is as follows:

Flights between Johannesburg and King Mswati III International Airport occur four-times per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (both ways).
Durban to King Mswati III
Flights on the Durban route occur once daily, both departing and returning.
Cape Town to King Mswati III
Cape Town flights only occur three-times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays (both ways).
