Eskom’s 11-hour maintenance to affect Johannesburg’s water supply
Eskom will carry out maintenance at the Daleside Substation in Johannesburg, resulting in 11-hour water supply disruptions.

Certain areas in Johannesburg will face reduced water pressure or complete outages for 11 hours due to scheduled maintenance by Eskom at the Daleside Substation.
The maintenance will impact the substation’s ability to supply power to Rand Water’s Daleside Pumping Station, which is responsible for feeding water to key reservoirs in Johannesburg’s Deep South, including those in Ennerdale, Orange Farm, and Lawley.
Eskom maintenance to disrupt Johannesburg water supply
The maintenance is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 April, from 7:00 – 18:00.
Johannesburg Water had earlier stated that there would be no pumping at Daleside for eight hours during the maintenance. As a result, customers will experience low pressure or complete water outages during both maintenance periods.
In addition, residents were also urged to store water ahead of the planned maintenance and to use alternative means like rain water harvesting to store rainwater for non-consumption use.
Affected areas include:
