Eskom 7-hour maintenance to affect water supply in all Gauteng metros
Rand Water says there will be low pressure to no water supply in all Gauteng metros due to Eskom maintenance this weekend.
Bulk potable supplier Rand Water says Eskom will do maintenance work on the transformers that supply the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant, resulting in an eight-hour supply disruption in Gauteng metros.
The maintenance is scheduled for Sunday, 21 January from 8:00 – 15:00.
WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTION IN GAUTENG DUE TO MAINTENANCE
In a statement, Rand Water said during the maintenance, pumping capacity will be reduced at Eikenhof, Palmiet, and Mapleton Systems.
As a result, some areas in the City of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni, may experience low pressure and no water supply.

The utility said the maintenance might also impact supply to local municipalities such as Rand West, Mogale City, Merafong, Madibeng, Lesedi, Govan Mbeki, Rustenburg, and Victor Khanye.
“It is important to mention that during this period, Rand Water will also undertake maintenance work that will entail preventive maintenance task of replacing defective valves on the Q2 pipeline that supplies water from the Eikenhof System,” Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo said.
