The lioness that escaped in Tlakgameng in the North West province earlier this week has been shot dead.
According to reports, the provincial environment and conservation department confirmed that the lioness was located and killed on Friday morning.
The South African reported on Thursday that the lioness escaped from her container while being transported on the back of a bakkie from Stella to a game farm in Tlakgameng.

It is believed the search teams headed back to look for the lioness on Friday morning.
BEFORE THE OWNER ARRIVED THE LIONESS WAS SHOT AND KILLED
A local farmer spotted the lioness near his premises and notified the owner of its location, but decided to shoot the lioness before the owner’s arrival.
Spokesperson for the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism, Jerry Matebesi, said because the lioness was roaming around near residential areas, the call was made to shoot and kill it.
