FOUR DAILY EMIRATES JOHANNESBURG FLIGHTS

The airline previously operated four daily services between Johannesburg and Dubai prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, to date it has only reinstated three of these, guided by passenger demand.

AIRBUS A380 FLIGHTS

This news follows Emirates’ deployment of an Airbus A380 on its second daily flight between Dubai and Johannesburg, on 1 September.

“South Africa has long been a highly popular destination for both leisure and business travellers connecting to and through Dubai, and the fourth daily flight enables us to better serve the growing demand for travel to and from the market.” Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer said.

However, Emirates is not the only airline operating scheduled flights into Johannesburg with the iconic Airbus A380 aircraft.

Planespotters and airport users will see a number of Airbus A380 aircraft at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport.

From 30 September Qantas will also operate Johannesburg flights with an Airbus A380 aircraft.

This is in addition to two daily Airbus A380 flights operated by Emirates, and one by British Airways.

MORE EMIRATES FLIGHTS TO SOUTH AFRICA

The world’s largest international airline, Emirates, is bringing even more choice, connectivity and premium travel options to Johannesburg, by adding a fourth daily flight on this route.

This will take the total number of flights Emirates operates between Dubai and South Africa to 49 services per week.

Emirates currently offers three daily rotations to Johannesburg, two to Cape Town and one to Durban. Thus, adding up to a total of 42 services each week.

The move reaffirms the importance of South Africa on the airline’s extensive global network.

“We’d like to extend our thanks to the South African authorities for their partnership and support in securing this new service, which reinstates the capacity we offered South Africa pre-pandemic, with 49 weekly flights, across three gateways. As we reflect on nearly three decades of operations to the market, we remain committed to driving inbound travel to South Africa, supporting the government as they aim make tourism the leading economic contributor and vehicle for transformation, as well as encouraging more inwards investment to the country.” Kazim said.
