“The electricity infrastructure upgrades will be carried out on five days between 21 May and 4 June 2024, if all goes to plan.
Due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work, supply will be interrupted and the time of restoration may be delayed by a few hours. Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete all upgrades within the communicated times.
The City apologises for any inconvenience caused.”
CUSTOMERS CAUTIONED AGAINST POWER SURGES
The City further notes that the electricity supply could be restored at any time, and urges customers to treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption.
“Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on,” the City added.
The upgrades in Newlands and surrounds follows necessary electricity maintenance in Hanover Park and Manenberg earlier this week.
