Johannesburg Water will cut off supply to the entire suburb of Fleurhof on Monday, 6 May, from 8:00 to 16:00, to connect a new pipe to the existing infrastructure.

The utility says the planned work is part of efforts to boost service delivery and ensure a more consistent water supply.

While every street in the area will be affected, Johannesburg Water has yet to announce where residents can access alternative water sources, promising to share those details soon.

Johannesburg Water systems spared as Rand Water cancels Palmiet maintenance

Rand Water has cancelled its planned maintenance at the Palmiet Pump Station, which was initially scheduled to run from 2 to 16 May and was expected to impact several Johannesburg Water systems.

On Monday, 14 April, Johannesburg Water issued a customer notice alerting residents to the upcoming work by the bulk supplier. However, Rand Water has since confirmed that it will no longer proceed with the maintenance.

Residents Encouraged to Prepare for the outages

City officials have urged Fleurhof residents, along with others in Johannesburg, to prepare for the outages by storing sufficient water ahead of time. The planned work highlights the city’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure reliability.

Joburg Water reiterated the importance of conservation: “We urge residents to use water sparingly.”
