The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Gauteng ensured none of the Cash Crusaders outlets traded Tuesday, 21 November following racism allegations among other accusations.

WHERE WERE THE PICKETS HELD BY THE EFF IN GAUTENG

The EFF shut down the corporate by picketing outside its stores all over Gauteng, including Sedibeng, Tshwane, Johannesburg, West Rand and Ekurhuleni demanding its grievances over racism claims and unfair business practices, be addressed by the corporate.

“It is a recurring scenario where already struggling small businesses fall victim to the bullying tactics of big franchises and monopolies. Over 100 stores belonging to small businessmen have been appropriated by Cash Crusaders,” the statement suggested.

CASH CRUSADERS GRANT EFF THE MEETING

However, after the picket today, the EFF released a statement after securing a meeting with a representative of the corporate.

“Following the successful EFF picket at Cash Crusaders stores across the province, a meeting was secured between the EFF leadership and Cash Crusaders management, including CEO, Brent Topat,” said Dumisani Baleni, the provincial spokesperson.

“It is safe to say that an agreement has been reached to establish a team’s meeting between the two parties to resolve the existing disputes. This meeting will be presided over by a neutral mediator to be agreed upon between the EFF and businesses affected,” he added.

Baleni cited that the EFF views Cash Crusaders’ acquiescence to this meeting as a progressive step towards resolving the matter and restoring justice to small businesses affected.

“Effectively, the picket has been suspended pending the resolution of the planned meeting. The EFF commends the dedication and revolutionary discipline of Fighters for their prompt response to the revolutionary call,” he further explained.
