Education department commences with matric marking process
According to the Education Department, there are 32 marking centres in the province of KwaZulu-Natal with a total of 8738 personnel involved.
The Education Department in KwaZulu-Natal has indicated that it is ready to take on the marking of the 2023 National Senior Certificate Examinations (matric papers).
THE DURATION OF THE MATRIC MARKING PROCESS
The marking process is expected to commence on 9 December and conclude on 20 December 2023.
According to the Education Department, there are 32 marking centres in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
“The Province has a total of 8738 personnel involved in the marking process, which comprises 6 926 markers, 1381 Senior Markers, 277 Deputy Chief Markers, 67 Chief Markers and 87 Moderators,” KZNDOE explained.

KZN EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO COMMENCE TRAINING
The training of marking personnel will begin on 6 December and conclude on 9 December (at the start of the marking process).
“We want to encourage markers to take this process of marking with all the seriousness and diligence it deserves,” said KZN DOE MEC Mbali Frazer.
She further urged the markers to deal with each and every script with the understanding that they are dealing with the learner’s future.
“We impress upon them to be very thorough while marking the learner’s scripts,” MEC Frazer emphasised.
EASY STEPS TO CHECK MATRIC RESULTS ONLINE
To check Matric results online, visit the Department of Education’s Matric portal. Enter your examination number, confirm personal details, and your results will appear.
For IEB or SACAI Matric systems, check results online using the respective portals; all you need to do is enter your ID and examination numbers for a similar process.

RELEASE DATES?
The 2023 National Senior Certificate exams concluded. Minister Angie Motshekga will announce the results on 18 January 2024.
