Duck! Ceiling collapses at Leratong Hospital
Surgeries have had to be cancelled or postponed at Leratong Hosptial this week. Lucky no one was injured when the ceiling collapsed.
The Democratic Alliance has expressed its shock and dismay at the poor maintenance at public hospitals following the collapse of a ceiling at Leratong Hospital, bringing surgeries to a halt.

In pictures shared by the part shadow Health MEC, Jack Bloom, exposed wiring and bent metal frames can be seen.
“It is yet another example of poor maintenance at our public hospitals, which are increasingly hazardous for staff and patients” says Bloom.
Bloom says that corruption financial mismanagement and incompetence from government, is the cause of the increasing dire state of hospitals.

“The DA calls for a complete overhaul of infrastructure management in Gauteng so that priorities are identified and budgets are spent effectively and efficiently.
CALLS FOR HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO STEP UP
Hospitals in Gauteng have had their fair share of time in the limelight this year, and not for good reason.
Tembisa Hospital had for months, experienced a shortage in medication particularly injections to treat conditions such as bipolar disorder, epilepsy, and high blood pressure.

In June, the Gauteng Department of Health was condemned after it was found that out 26 out of the provinces 34 hospitals face food shortages for nearly six months.
According to the Democratic Alliance, for two hospitals, Bronkhorstspruit and Lenasia South, they had to borrow food from other hospitals.
