The recent horrific fire that tore through Wupperthal, destroying much of the historical village near Clanwilliam, devastating over 60 shops and homes, and tragically leaving at least 200 people homeless… left the Cape West Coast community desperate for assistance and in dire need of the basic essentials. Fortunately South Africans have stepped up to help residents rebuild their lives…
Together with Fruitful Futures, Stor-Age Self Storage opened all 14 of their Western Cape facilities to act as drop off points for donations from the public.
The response was overwhelming, they said, as numerous Stor-Age units filled within days of the call for assistance, with items ranging from clothing and toiletries, to blankets and other basic essentials.
A delivery of 48 boxes of clothing has already been dispatched to Wupperthal, with more donations still being sorted through.
The positive response from the public has surpassed expectations and additional donations will be delivered to those affected by the devastation of the fires in the Overstrand area as well as the Wupperthal community.
Stor-Age spokesperson Chris Oosthuizen said:
The support we have seen from communities and businesses across the Western Cape in aid of the devastating Wuppertal fire has been truly inspirational. A number of Stor-Age units have been overflowing with donations and we thank each and every person who took the time out to donate to this very important cause.
Those wishing to still donate to the Wuppertal community can visit Stor-Age Durbanville at 200 Pinehurst Drive and Okavango Road, Durbanville.
