De Lille speaks at GOOD Party manifesto launch in Johannesburg
GOOD Party leader, Patricia de Lille spoke at the party’s manifesto launch in Johannesburg on Saturday, focusing a lot on the BIG.
Patricia De Lille’s GOOD Party launched its Elections Manifesto on Saturday in Johannesburg under the theme: Stop The Suffering!
De Lille said at the party’s manifesto was to rebalance society. She said the promises made by political parties during election campaigns won’t materialise after the 29 May elections.
Patricia De Lille says her party wants to increase the Basic Income Grant (BIG) from R350 to almost R1,000 to cushion many people and to ensure that those living below the poverty line can meet their basic human needs.
“If we don’t change the structure, we will achieve no more than changing the positions of the deck chairs on the Titanic,” said De Lille. She said: “We must eliminate any inefficiency and incompetence in government by professionalising the administration and ensuring we have the right skills and capacity.”
The GOOD Party says unemployment is the most significant barrier on the pathway out of poverty and due to slow economic growth, millions of people suffer and rely on social grants to survive.
De Lille says basic services like electricity, water, and sewerage must be affordable, including accelerating renewable energy generation development to end load shedding.
