Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has responded to the resignation of the party’s former chairperson, Advocate Dali Mpofu.

Mpofu has dumped the Red Berets to join the Jacob Zuma-led uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

JULIUS MALEMA REACTS TO DALI MPOFU’S DEPARTURE FROM EFF

In an interview with the SABC, Mpofu said he is joining the MK Party because he believes it is the vehicle through which the much-needed black and progressive unity can be achieved.

Following the announcement, Malema took to X (formerly Twitter) to weigh in on Mpofu’s resignation.

“Only two more of your favourites remain, and the list will be finalised. They sing beautifully and are always willing to pose for pictures and sign roll calls, but remember, their souls are long gone. To prevent any potential hurt, it’s crucial to heed the guidance of the leadership. We remain standing and are not going anywhere under a criminal syndicate,” he posted.

FLOYD SHIVAMBU WELCOMES FORMER NATIONAL CHAIRPERSON

Meanwhile, Malema’s former deputy and EFF co-founder Floyd Shivambu who was the first prominent EFF leader to resign, has welcomed Dali Mpofu to the MK Party.

Shivambu, who has since been appointed a national organizer in the Zuma-led party, took to X to say the party is blessed to be joined by capable, disciplined, hard-working, and selfless leaders.

“Welcome advocate Dali Mpofu to the movement which has superior ideological, political, and organizational capacity, composure, and temperament to unite all the anti-colonial, anti-imperialist and anti-racist progressive forces in South Africa to fight for total political, economic, social, spatial, cultural, and knowledge/ideological freedom and emancipation. The MK Party is blessed to be joined by capable, disciplined, hard-working, and selfless leaders! It’s No retreat!” he posted.
