The Democratic Alliance (DA) which is the second-largest political party in South Africa, was in Mpumalanga on Thursday, Human Rights Day, to unveil its provincial elections manifesto ahead of the 29 May General Elections.

Thousands of DA supporters in the province braved the wet weather to march to the Nelspruit Amphitheatre where the launch was held. Leader, John Steenhuisen, said the party would rescue the province from failing water systems after decades of ANC mismanagement.

“In commemoration of Human Rights Day, the blue team is marching to the Nelspruit Amphitheatre where DA leader John Steenhuisen will address the crowd,” the party posted on X.

“After just 30 years in government, the ANC has eroded state institutions. We will build a capable state to partner with the private sector and civil society to rescue South Africa,” says DA leader John Steenhuisen.

“On this Human Rights Day, the DA is taking action to address SA’s water crisis by filing an urgent complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission,” he said.

Steenhuisen says only the DA has the size, experience and demonstrated track-record of good governance to serve as the anchor for a stable and successful Multi-Party Charter government.

To rescue South Africans from crime, corruption and lawlessness, the DA says we need a new independent crime-busting institution to ensure that those guilty of crimes are put behind bars.

“From poor governance and failing service delivery, we need to abolish the ANC’s practice of deploying party loyalists into government positions, professionalise the public service, and prioritise the delivery of basic services,” says the DA.

“After just 30 years in government, the ANC has eroded state institutions through cadre deployment, corruption, and criminality,” the DA said.

He said the DA’s message was clear: “We’re here to restore fundamental human rights and #RescueSA. It’s time for SA to reclaim what the ANC has taken away.”
