FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ‘CROWN CHASERS’
1. MISS SA RETURNS TO SABC 3 AFTER 23 YEARS WITH ‘CROWN CHASERS’
The Miss SA Organisation announced that Miss SA will be returning to SABC 3 for the first time in 23 years with their reality show – Crown Chasers.
Back in 1999, the Miss SA finale was broadcasted on SABC 3 – the finale took place at the Sun City Superbowl on 11 December with 26 finalists taking part. At the end of the evening, SABC3 viewers watched Heather Hamilton from KwaZulu Natal be crowned Miss South Africa.
This year the finale will also be broadcasted on SABC 3 but also the reality show. Episodes will be broadcasted weekly in the lead up to the finale on 13 August.
“We are thrilled to have Miss South Africa back on our platform. The Miss South Africa title carries with it a lot of hope, aspirations and most importantly, it enables young women from all backgrounds to showcase the power of what one can achieve with the right mindset,” said Lala Tuku, Head of Local Productions at the SABC.

2. WHAT VIEWERS CAN EXPECT FROM THE REALITY SHOW
Viewers can expect a sneak peek into the process of becoming Miss South Africa, through a series of challenges, tasks and mentorship sessions.
While filming Crown Chasers there were 12 finalists. However, since then one of the finalists – Levern José dropped out – and she will not be replaced as she already appears in the reality series.
The reality series has five parts.
3. WHERE AND WHEN TO WATCH
Crown Chasers will be broadcast on SABC 3 on Saturdays at 16:00 starting on 8 July.

4. ZOZIBINI TUNZI TO HOST ‘CROWN CHASERS’
Former Miss Universe (2019) and Miss SA (2019) Zozibini Tunzi will be hosting the series.
5. WHO ARE THE ‘CROWN CHASERS’ JUDGES?
A consistent panel of two judges – Bonang Matheba and Leandie du Randt – will be present for each episode. There will be however, still be guest judges.

- Miss South Africa 2001 Vanessa Carreira Coutroulis
- Fashion designers Gert Johann Coetzee and Khosi Nkosi
