Dijana stopped the clock in 5:14:01.
The previous record belonged to David Gatebe who posted 5:18:19 in 2016.
Dijana won R500 000 for triumphing and another R500 000 for breaking the record.
Dutch runner Piet Wiersma, running his first Comrades Marathon, finished just seven seconds behind in what proved to be a thrilling finish.
