City of Tshwane encourages residents to apply for waste bins
The City of Tshwane has passed a mandate for every household to have a waste bin in an effort to curb illegal dumping in the city.
In a proactive move to combat illegal dumping and improve waste management practices, the City of Tshwane has mandated that every household must possess a designated bin for storing household waste.
These waste bins will undergo weekly collection by either the City or its authorised service providers.
Additionally, households with backyard dwellers are strongly encouraged to apply for extra waste bins. To accommodate the volume of waste generated. This initiative aims to curb instances of illegal dumping and promote responsible waste disposal habits throughout the community.
STEPS TO OBTAIN A WASTE BIN FOR CITY OF TSHWANE RESIDENTS
Here’s how residents can obtain a waste bin:
- Step 1: Residents can acquire an application form through various channels, including visiting a customer care center or waste management depot, downloading the form from the official website, or requesting it via email at wastemanagement@tshwane.gov.za.
- Step 2: Once the form is completed, residents can submit it electronically to wastemanagement@tshwane.gov.za or drop it off at any relevant customer care center or waste management depot.
- Step 3: The application will be processed and recorded in the SAP system, and a job card will be issued.
- Step 4: A dedicated team will be responsible for delivering the waste bins and will inform the resident once the delivery is scheduled.
- Step 5: Upon delivery, the resident must sign the job card to confirm receipt of the waste bin. Self-collection options are also available for residents who prefer this method.
- Step 6: Following bin delivery, monthly billing will commence at a tariff rate approved by the authorities.
NO PAYMENT REQUIRED
“No payment is required for initial issuing or replacing a bin,” stated City of Tshwane.
