City of Cape Town announces a MAJOR 10-hour water outage for two days
Residents in parts of Cape Town will experience a 10-hour water outage over two consecutive days due to essential maintenance work.
In an effort to enhance water supply infrastructure and benefit customers. The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be conducting additional planned work in certain areas, resulting in temporary water outage.
The City of Cape Town sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused. It encourages residents in affected areas to prepare accordingly.

Maintenance work, including pipe and valve installations, repairs, and replacements, will lead to a significant water supply disruption in a large part of Gordon’s Bay, Cape Town.
AFFECTED AREAS IN CAPE TOWN BY THE WATER OUTAGE
Water shut off from 8:00 to 18:00 on both Wednesday, 31 January, and Thursday, 1 February, bounding the affected area by Sir Lowry’s Pass Road, Dennehof Street, Disa Road, and the Coastline.
“This critical work is done on our water supply infrastructure to benefit customers,” states the Water and Sanitation Directorate.
The City urge residents to store enough water in advance for domestic use during the disruption.

THE CITY WILL MINIMISE INCONVENIENCE
The City stresses its careful planning to minimise inconvenience caused by maintenance work. This is part of a broader proactive infrastructure maintenance and upgrade program.
“All efforts will be made to minimise the inconvenience,” assures the City.

Additionally, residents should note that maintenance work might exceed estimates. Also after restoring the supply, water may temporarily appear discolored due to trapped air in the pipes—a situation that will resolve shortly.
Construction sites deem all locations where water and sanitation repairs and upgrades occur, making them off-limits to the public.
