Chicco Twala speaks out: ‘Longwe is a thief and drug addict’ as sons appear in court
Chicco Twala says he reported his son Longwe Twala to the police because he had tried everything to help him improve his behavior.
Renowned musician and producer Sello “Chicco” Twala states that his son Longwe is a thief and a drug addict who has undergone rehab over 30 times.
The Modjadji hitmaker said this as his sons Sello junior and Longwe appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for allegedly stealing his studio equipment while he was in the United States in August.

Chicco said his sons broke into his studio and stole equipment worth R200 000 and he opened a case of theft against them at the Douglasdale police station.
Speaking to Newzroom Afrika in court, Chicco said his sons have been stealing from him for some time and he called the cops especially on Longwe because he couldn’t take it anymore.
“I took this decision because as a parent I thought enough was enough! I did everything I could to make sure that he is fine and my son doesn’t want to change. You can talk to him today about his behaviour, especially stealing and using drugs, tomorrow he’ll repeat the same thing. So, I thought maybe this is the time that he must learn the hard way,” he explained.
The music producer also revealed that his son started taking drugs when he was 18-year-old and has been using them for over 20 years now and he has done all he could as a parent to help him.
He said he believes that Longwe would come back a better person if he charged and serves some time in prison instead of suffering in the streets.
“He lies all the time that he has stopped using drugs and I’ve reached a point where I said enough is enough. I’d rather see him serving time in prison than seeing him suffer in the streets,” he added.
MAKING HEADLINES
This is not the first time Longwe has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
His name has been mentioned several times at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria where the trial of the five men accused of killing former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa continues.
Longwe was among the people who were present when Meyiwa was shot and killed at his then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014.
Defence lawyers are adamant that Longwe is the one who shot and killed Meyiwa using his father’s gun. He is reportedly a state witness but he is yet to testify in court.
