Cape Town’s hunger fight gets boost from Taipei rice donation
The City of Cape Town received a two-ton rice donation towards the ongoing hunger fight from the Office of the Speaker, in partnership with Taipei Liaison Office.
The City of Cape Town welcomed a donation of two tons of rice from the Office of the Speaker, in collaboration with the Taipei Liaison Office in Taipei. According to the city, rice is a crucial, affordable, and nutritious South African staple; hence, this donation is beneficial to the city’s hunger fight.

Director-General Lily Chen leads a significant contribution, potentially feeding 10,000 people, addressing affordable sustenance, and securing food for storm-affected families.
“The Taipei Liaison Office’s donation not only combats immediate hunger but also demonstrates the power of collective action and social responsibility. DG Chen and her team’s dedication set a commendable example,” the statement revealed.
