World Travel Awards shines a spotlight on Cape Town
South Africa’s Cape Town has once again proven its status as a world-class destination, being honoured as Africa’s Leading City Destination 2024 at the prestigious World Travel Awards for the fourth consecutive year.
This accolade reaffirms Cape Town’s enduring appeal, celebrated globally for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant city life.
Much more than just a destination
When visitors explore Africa’s Leading City Destination, they also have access to some of the continent’s finest tourism and hospitality experiences. The Port of Cape Town was named Africa’s Leading Cruise Port, cementing the city’s position as a premier gateway to the continent.
Alongside this, the city is home to multiple luxury and eco-friendly establishments that have set new standards of excellence in African tourism.
In the hospitality sector, Hotel Verde was awarded Africa’s Leading Green Hotel. Caron van Rooyen, General Manager of Hotel Verde, shared her pride in the achievement.
“We are incredibly honoured to receive the Africa’s Leading Green Hotel 2024 award. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team at Hotel Verde Cape Town in promoting sustainability and excellence in hospitality. Together, we are committed to creating a positive impact on our environment and providing our guests with an unforgettable experience.” she said.
More and more awards
Cape Town is also home to the Cape Grace, which received the award for Africa’s Leading Luxury Hotel, and the One&Only Cape Town, named Africa’s Leading Luxury Resort.
These accolades highlight the city’s appeal as a top destination for discerning travellers seeking luxury and comfort.
Further emphasising Cape Town’s commitment to high-quality travel experiences, Go2Africa, a V&A Waterfront-based company, was recognised as Africa’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator.
Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism, expressed his pride and appreciation following the announcement:
