POWER COULD BE RESTORED ANYTIME

In addition, the City of Cape Town said the outage duration is an estimation and restoration could be delayed due to the complex nature of the high voltage infrastructure work. However, the teams will work as quickly as possible to complete the work within the communicated time.

The metro municipality emphasised that residents are scheduled to experience electricity supply interruptions on 8 and 15 March 2025, as well as on 5 April 2025. However, the area is exempt from Eskom’s load-shedding from 24 February 2025 until further notice due to the planned high voltage upgrade work.

“Should the power not be restored within communicated timeframes, residents are advised to check the City’s official communication channels, including the City’s social media channels, or contact the Call Centre before logging a service request concerning the planned upgrade work,” the City of Cape Town said.

RESIDENTS URGED TO TREAT ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES AS LIVE

Lastly, the City of Cape Town said electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned maintenance work.

“Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.”
