In the wake of a recent storm wreaking havoc across the metro, the City of Cape Town’s electricity teams are in overdrive, tirelessly working to restore power to the remaining affected areas.

Teams have successfully reinstated power in numerous locations through nonstop efforts, but challenges persist in some pockets of the city.

CAPE TOWN EXPRESSES GRATITUDE FOR RESIDENTS’ PATIENCE

Expressing gratitude for residents’ patience, the City of Cape Town emphasised its commitment to swift action.

“We thank residents for their patience and understanding while we work to restore supply and attend to the damaged infrastructure repairs,” stated the City.

CITY MOBILISES RAPID RESPONSE TO RESTORE POWER IN STORM-AFFECTED AREAS

Officials and depot teams concentrate efforts to revive electricity supply in areas like Philippi West, Mfuleni, Hazendal, and Lansdowne. Officials and depot teams are on high alert, swiftly addressing outages to minimise inconvenience for affected communities.

Furthermore, acknowledging the complexities of infrastructure repair, Councillor Beverley van Reenen, Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, highlighted the challenges faced by the teams.

“In many areas, the nature of the repair work is tricky and dangerous, especially in difficult weather conditions,” stated Councillor van Reenen.

Moreover, despite the challenges, Cape Town teams are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and comfort of residents.

“Our teams are doing everything in their power to ensure that supply in the remaining areas is restored as quickly as humanly possible,” reassured Councillor van Reenen.

CITY IMPLEMENTS SINGLE REPORTING CHANNEL FOR FASTER REPAIR RESPONSE

Furthermore, authorities urge residents to use a single reporting channel for fault notifications to streamline the repair process and prevent delays caused by duplicate service requests.

With a collective effort and unwavering dedication, the City’s electricity teams remain committed to restoring normalcy in the storm-affected areas, ensuring the resilience of the community in the face of adversity.
