The City of Cape Town has issued a stern reminder to all parties involved, emphasising the strict adherence to the Election Poster Rules.

According to these regulations, each political entity is permitted only one poster per street light pole during both the voter registration phase and the General Election.

However, it has come to the attention of city authorities that some parties are disregarding these rules by erecting multiple posters on single street poles, in clear contravention of the regulations set forth.

Such actions not only violate the spirit of fair play but also undermine the integrity of the electoral process.

Residents are urged to play an active role in upholding these regulations by reporting any instances of non-compliance through the City’s service request portal, CCT Service Requests, available on the official website.

ELECTION POSTER RULES

To this end, all parties and residents are reminded of the following election poster rules to guarantee a fair and transparent electoral process:

  • Only one election poster per party per light pole is permitted.
  • Additional event posters, such as those advertising meetings or rallies, are limited to one per party per light pole.
  • Posters must be securely mounted on a board using stout string or plastic fastenings, unless a permanent frame has been approved.
  • Pasted posters are strictly prohibited.
  • Poster dimensions must not exceed 0.9m x 0.6m, with the main lettering height at least 50mm.
  • No commercial content is allowed on political posters, and the party responsible for the display must be clearly identified.

By adhering to these election poster rules, the integrity of the electoral process is upheld, ensuring that every voice is heard in the upcoming elections.
