BLF Party signs ‘historic agreement’ with Jacob Zuma’s MK
BLF president Andile Mngxitama says his party and MK share common ideologies when it comes to radical economic transformation (RET).
The Black First Land First – BLF party has signed a “historic agreement” to join forces with former president Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, in the 2024 general election.
Mngxitama said the BLF and MK shared a lot ideologically. Both parties believe in the policy of radical economic Transformation (rET).

BLF PARTY TO VOTE FOR MK IN THE 2024 ELECTIONS
“We are delighted to inform you all that the long process of deciding on the 2024 election is now complete. Black First Land First (BLF) had a consultative meeting yesterday, 16 January, with president Zuma in Nkandla,” he said in a statement.
Mngxitama said BLF believes that the MK Party presents an exciting possibility for a radical future. He said the agreement between the parties is about BLF voting for the MK party in the 2024 elections.

MK SIGNED SIMILAR AGREEMENTS WITH ACT, AAAM AND PAC
He said following a two-hour discussion with Zuma in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday, BLF and MK reached an agreement where one party endorses another in an election.
On Sunday, ahead of the meeting, Mngxitama posted a picture of himself with Zuma, saying it is important for like-minded RET forces to join hands together.

“The leadership of the PAC met with our father (Zuma). This is a great gesture. We must consolidate our forces. Imagine if all revolutionary movements were to have a united front based on a minimum programme like the RET. United we can defeat Stellenbosch,” he said.
This comes after the MK party agreed similar collaborative relationships with parties such as the African Congress for Transformation (ACT), the All African Alliance Movement (AAAM) and the PAC one month after its formation.

NO NEED TO FRACTURE OUR VOTES, SAYS MNGXITAMA
“The discussion to have the electoral pact was between (former) president Zuma and a BLF delegation led by the president of BLF, Andile Mngxitama. We have agreed that BLF shall support the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in the 2024 elections. This means BLF shall not be on the ballot box; instead, the MK party shall be on the ballot.”
Mngxitama said he would visit all BLF branches to explain the political considerations to join up with MK.
“There is, therefore, no reason to fracture our votes. From the beginning, BLF was committed to uniting the Left in South Africa. Let’s build a massive revolutionary movement,” Mgxitama said.

LONG QUEUE OUTSIDE ZUMA’S HOMESTEAD
He told The Citizen that when he arrived in Nkandla with his delegation, they had to wait in a queue because there were many leaders and organisations that wanted an audience with the Zuma who defied the ANC and began to campaign for his new party without resigning from the ruling party.
He confirmed that over 100 people came to see the former president at his residence in the rural village, north of KwaZulu-Natal.
