The Gupta Family’s former PR agency – Bell Pottinger – will be facing the music on 18 August 2017, in a disciplinary hearing scheduled by UK regulatory body PRCA (Public Relations and Communications Association), it was announced on Tuesday.
Francis Ingham MPRCA, Director General of the PRCA, said: “As previously announced, the complaint filed by the Democratic Alliance (the South African political party) against Bell Pottinger is being considered by a Professional Practices Committee.
“This Committee has decided to hold a hearing on this case with both parties on Friday, 18th August, 2017.
“Both the Democratic Alliance and Bell Pottinger are now required to provide full evidence to the Committee ahead of this hearing. We want to thank both sides again for their cooperation so far.”
A spokesperson for the DA Abroad told SAPeople: “We are obviously pleased to hear that the PRCA will be holding Bell Pottinger to account for their role in sowing racial hatred in South Africa, and look forward to the outcome of the hearing.”
South Africans in London joined the DA Abroad on Friday evening for a protest outside Bell Pottinger’s London head office.
It has been alleged that Bell Pottinger were employed by the Gupta Family to created a distraction from their Oakbay business dealings, and that Bell Pottinger launched a racially-divisive campaign… which included the catchphrase ‘White Monopoly Capital’.
Bell Pottinger CEO apologised last week, but South Africans said that wasn’t enough. They want Bell Pottinger to pay back the money, preferably donated to vulnerable children in SA.
