ANC mourns loss of bus accident victims
A bus carrying people from the ANC manifesto launch was involved in a tragic accident that killed nine people and injured others.
The African National Congress (ANC) has sent condolences to the loved ones of its nine supporters who died in a bus accident in Paulpietersburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
The tragic accident happened in the early hours of Sunday, 25 February. The bus was ferrying ANC members who were returning from party’s manifesto launch in Durban.

According to the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport, the accident happened about seven kilometers before reaching eDumbe town from R34.
“Scores of other occupants sustained injuries, with four being more critical. They have all been taken to a local hospital. The cause of the accident is being investigated, and experts will be deployed to assist with the forensic investigation,” the department said.
ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said KZN Deputy Chairperson Nomagugu Simelane together with other provincial leaders from both KZN and Mpumalanga are on their way to the scene.
Bhengu-Motsiri said the provincial leaders will also visit hospitals to assess the situation and also visit the affected families.
“We send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the departed comrades, their relatives, and friends. We also wish those injured a speedy recovery,” she said.
