AKA Murder: Suspects remanded in custody, set to apply for bail
Five of seven suspects arrested for the murder of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane appeared in a Durban court on Thursday.
The suspects accused of the murder of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello Motsoane will return to the Durban Magistrates Court on 6 March for a formal bail application.
Five of the seven suspects appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 29 February.
AKA MURDER SUSPECTS REMANDED IN CUSTODY
As previously reported by The South African, the last suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 28 February. Two others were arrested in Eswatini and an extradition process has started.

The magistrate postponed the matter for bail verification until 6 March. In the meantime, accused 1, 4 and 5 are to be kept at Chatsworth Police Station. Accused 2 and 3 will be kept at Westville Prison.
“On 6 March the matter will return to court for bail application purposes, on 14 March it will then be postponed to 18 and 19 March. It is foreseeable that we won’t be able to finalise the matter on these two days. It will then be postponed to 27 March for bail application purposes,” the magistrate explained.
AKA’s father Tony Forbes, Police Minister Bheki Cele, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi were also at the Durban Magistrates Court.
