Taxi boss Mfundo Gcaba deposited R800 000 into a bank account of one of the men charged with the murder of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes.
This was revealed by the State as the bail application of the five men accused of killing AKA continued at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 27 March.
NEW NAME POPS UP IN AKA MURDER CASE
On Wednesday, the State argued against the bail application of the five men. Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddie Myeza (21), Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni (36) and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande (29) were charged for the murder of AKA and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.
Senior State advocate advocate Elvis Gcweka told the court that Gwabeni made a call to Sydney Mfundo Gcaba and the R803 455 was deposited into is account.
The owner of Gwabs Mining then shared the money with his co-accused who each received R133 000.
“Shorty after this call, an amount of R803 455 is transferred to the bank account of the applicant. The bank statement attached in his affidavit does not show the period of these transactions,” Gcweka told the court.
In the last court appearance the R800 000 payment was a hot topic as well.
According to Gwabeni’s sworn affidavit, the R803 000 was from a reputable business for consultation services. However the State is adamant that the payment was for a contract killing and not for consultation services.
