Patrons of Wish On Florida restaurant have questioned the establishment for naming its closing down event ‘The Last Supper’.
This, after rapper AKA ate his last meal at the Durban eatery moments before he was murdered.
On Monday, 3 April, management of the award-winning restaurant announced news of their permanent closure.
According to a statement, the decision comes over dwindling business since the tragedy.
The hitmaker and friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot and killed by unknown gunmen outside the Durban hotspot on 10 February.
This, after the star reportedly shared his location on his Instagram Stories.

WISH ON FLORIDA’S ‘LAST SUPPER’ EVENT CRITICISM
In a statement, the management of Wish On Florida announced their permanent closure on 10 April – exactly two months after AKA and Tibz’s murder.
It said: “In light of the recent tragic event on our doorstep, we have experienced a severe downturn in business, which leaves the directors with no other option but to close the business permanently, as the brand equity of Wish on Florida has been deeply hindered”

The award-winning restaurant – owned by Philani Kweyama, Wayne Ndlovu, and Benny Maverick – invited the public to celebrate their final week of operation.
To mark the occasion of their farewell, Wish on Florida are planning on hosting an event called “The Last Supper.”

But while patrons of the restaurant were sad to see it close its doors, they weren’t impressed with the choice of wording.

@Am_Blujay: “I think labelling the 10th of April their last day ‘The Last Supper’ is very distasteful and disrespectful to the family of AKA. I don’t know why they thought it was okay.”

@RabsMaphai: “So who will attend The Last Supper at the place where Kiernan had his? Odd”

AKA MURDER INVESTIGATION: THE LATEST
Meanwhile, police are seemingly back to the drawing board after reports indicated that recent arrests were unrelated to the rapper’s death.
Minister of Police Bheki Cele confirmed that four men who were arrested in Cape Town, and transported to Durban, did not have anything to do with AKA’s murder.

He told the SABC: “There was this thing that people have been arrested. From the side of SAPS, we have never said so, but we are investigating.
“I have said that. Fortunately, we have found the getaway car of the killers positively identified. We are working on things like downloads of the cell [cellphone data/records]. We’ve collected a lot of them. We agreed that it is not going too fast, but we are definitely in the right direction”.
