Airlink finally gets go ahead for new route
Airlink has now received the green light for its new route connecting Cape Town and Gaborone, Botswana. Here’s more details…
Airlink route approved
Airlink has now been given the go ahead to launch direct Cape Town to Gaborone flights from 1 April 2025.
This news comes after the airline had to withdraw sales for the new route after the Botswana Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) informed Airlink that it had not been granted authorisation to operate the route.
The Aviation Authority had also requested that the airline remove all advertisements of the new service and had even fined Airlink for marketing and selling flights without their approval.
“We appreciate both governments’ aeronautical regulatory bodies for resolving the matter so that Airlink can do what it does best, which is connecting people and markets by providing reliable and convenient flights with great service. We have reinstated the flights in the global reservations system, which lets customers make reservations for flights on the route,” Airlink CEO and Managing Director Rodger Foster said as per Travel News.
“Gaborone and Cape Town are important destinations for business and leisure travel. We have seen rising interest and demand from local and international long haul customers for an Airlink direct service between the two cities.” Foster added.
