Airlink increases frequency to two African countries
Airlink has announced additional flights along two of its African routes departing Johannesburg. Here are the details…
Airlink adds more flights along two routes
Airlink has good news for South African traveller heading to Biera, Mozambique and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
As reported by Travel News, the airline now operates daily flights between OR Tambo International Airport and Mozambique’s Beira International Airport from 18 September.
Airlink had been flying to Beira six days a week. Now, a further return flight on Wednesdays has been added.
Additionally, the airline also announced on X that it had added another flight along its Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam, Tanzia route, starting 21 September.
This additional flight to Dar es Salaam will go out on Saturdays.
New route also approved for operations
The airline has also been given the go ahead to launch direct Cape Town to Gaborone flights from 1 April 2025.
This news comes after the airline had to withdraw sales for the new route after the Botswana Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) informed Airlink that it had not been granted authorisation to operate the route.
The Aviation Authority had also requested that the airline remove all advertisements of the new service and had even fined the airline for marketing and selling flights without their approval.
“We appreciate both governments’ aeronautical regulatory bodies for resolving the matter so that Airlink can do what it does best, which is connecting people and markets by providing reliable and convenient flights with great service. We have reinstated the flights in the global reservations system, which lets customers make reservations for flights on the route,” Airlink CEO and Managing Director Rodger Foster said as per Travel News.
“Gaborone and Cape Town are important destinations for business and leisure travel. We have seen rising interest and demand from local and international long haul customers for an Airlink direct service between the two cities.” Foster added.
