Air Botswana finally launches Durban-Gaborone flights after two-month delay

Air Botswana officially connects Durban and Gaborone

Following a two-month delay, Air Botswana officially launched its Durban-Gaborone flights on Sunday, 1 December.

According to reports, the route had been postponed indefinitely due to a delay in the delivery of the aircraft intended for the flights, along with the process of adding this new aircraft to the airline’s Air Operator Certificate.

The Durban-Gaborone leg, as part of Air Botswana’s Gaborone-Windhoek-Durban service, was originally scheduled to begin on 1 October.

Flight schedule

Flights take off on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays according to the following schedule:

• On Wednesdays, flights depart Durban at 09:45 and arrives in Gaborone at 11:15. On both Fridays and Sundays, the flight departs Durban at 13:55 and arrives in Gaborone at 15:25.
• On Wednesdays, the return flight then departs Gaborone at 07:30 and arrives in Durban at 09:00. On both Fridays and Sundays, the flight departs Gaborone at 11:40 and arrives in Durban at 13:10.

The airline only recently announced a major route network expansion between South Africa and Botswana – with new and returning routes.

Some of the new routes are flights from Kasane to Cape Town, from Maun to Cape Town, from Kasane to Kruger (KMIA) and from Kasane to Windhoek.

Maun to Cape Town and Kasane to Cape Town kicked off on 1 November on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. There is also a Kasane to Mpumalanga flight on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, which started from 1 November as well.
