Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston: GDE must probe alleged sexual misconduct

Several complaints have come to the DA that a teacher at Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston has had numerous sexual relations with students.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has ordered Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane to conduct an urgent probe into the alleged sexual misconduct by a female teacher at Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston, east of Johannesburg.

Sergio dos Santos MPL, DA Gauteng Spokesperson for Education, said several complaints have come to the DA that a female teacher at Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston” has had numerous sexual relations with students.
“The teacher has continued being employed at the school despite both the principal and deputy principal being fully aware of the allegations,” he alleged.

SEXUAL MISCONDUCT CASES IN SCHOOLS

“Over the past five years, about 300 cases were reported nationally, and 173 cases were recorded in Gauteng alone,” he revealed.

“The DA does not take this lightly and will be submitting questions to the MEC to ascertain when he will investigate this serious matter.
“The DA strongly believes that schools are meant to be safe havens for learning and teaching. No child should be abused, led astray, and preyed upon by malicious adults,” said dos Santos.

DA WANTS TEACHER FIRED FROM AFRIKAANSE HOERSKOOL GERMINSTON IF FOUND GUILTY

He further said if these allegations are found to be true, the perpetrator must be dismissed from her duties and left to officials to enforce the necessary law.

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has not commented or released a statement on this matter.
