FlySafair has introduced an affordable new flight between Cape Town and Windhoek, marking the airline’s first regional route departing from Cape Town.

Cost-effective travel across southern Africa

FlySafair, a low-cost domestic airline, announced that this new cheap flight is part of its broader mission to make travel more accessible and also cost-effective for passengers across southern Africa. The airline is hopeful that the service will open up new opportunities for leisure and business travel between the two cities.

Kirby Gordon, the chief marketing officer at FlySafair said that they are ‘extremely excited to have this highly anticipated route operational before the summer holidays at the end of the year’. He added that their aim is to offer customers more opportunities to visit loved ones and explore the sights of Namibia.

De Lille celebrating at the airport

The launch was celebrated with South Africa’s Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille, joining others at Cape Town International Airport for the inaugural flight, as reported by capetownetc. Consul General of Namibia Elizabeth Theron, FlySafair Chairman Blacky Komani, and also ACSA CTIA’s Regional General Manager Mark Maclean were present at the airport for the celebration.

De Lille praised the airline’s contributions. She emphasised that this new route would significantly enhance tourism and strengthen economic relations between South Africa and Namibia.

Ticket prices

Tickets for these flights start at R 1800 which is much less than those offered by competitors.

The flights will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The Cape Town to Windhoek route joins FlySafair’s other regional destinations, which include Harare and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

Namibia is a popular regional holiday destination for South Africans, located in southwestern Africa.

Namibia’s abundant natural resources, low population density, good energy and transport infrastructure, and also its good safety and security are additional factors that make it an attractive destination for holidaymakers and even those considering relocating.

Markedly, Namibia is one of the safest countries on the African continent according to the latest Global Peace Index. The local government works hard to minimise violent crimes and petty theft.
