From a new electric double-cab bakkie to the BMW 5 Series we take a look at five new cars launched recently that you should know about.
Big news about several of the latest cars were released in the last few weeks. Sean Parker recaps five new cars that you should know about, with some of them headed to South Africa.
Maxus has revealed how much its new electric double-cab bakkie will cost when it launches locally. Another carmaker to reveal pricing of its new cars is BMW. The new 5 Series sedan is 520d spec has been added to the local arm’s pricing configurator.

We take a look at five new cars that you should know about:
Maxus T90 EV – The bakkie is only available in 4×2 for now and its electric motor is fed by an 88.5 kWh Ternary Polymer Lithium battery, according to IOL. The T90 has an electric range of 330km and will cost R1.1 million according to the UK company.
BMW 5 Series – As we mentioned only the 520d is listed on the brand’s configurator. The eighth generation model is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine with 145kW and 400Nm. It is priced from R1 247 894 on BMW’s website.

Volkswagen Tiguan – One of South Africa’s most popular SUVs was shown at the Munich motor show last month. The third generation model will make its way here in 2024. The new model has sharper styling, more tech and thankfully will employ internal combustion engines, unlike the next generation Golf.
Audi RS7 & RS6 Performance – We love performance cars and the latest Audi RS6 & RS7 epitomise what a big, luxurious and fast car is all about. Audi has increased the size of the turbochargers fitted to the 4.0-litre V8 engine and the power outputs are an outrageous 463kW and 850Nm.
Pricing for the RS6 is R2 332 700 and R2 444 500 for the RS7 Performance.

Toyota Vitz X-Cite – A far cry from large German fast sedans is the latest model from Toyota. The Japanese carmaker has released pricing for its Vitz X-Cite, a tiny city hatchback. The new model differentiates itself from the rest of the range with orange motifs. It employs the same gutsy 1.0-litre engine producing 49kW and 89Nm.
Pricing for the new models (manual and auto) are R189 900 and R219 900 according to Apex.
