Social grant recipients can collect their payments at participating retailers like PnP and Boxer Stores, though the Post Office will soon be phased out as a means of getting your grant money.
Here’s what is known so far about the SA Post Office and social grants, as well as where to withdraw your approved grant as an alternative.

The South African Social Security Agency have announced that the Post Office’s days are numbered as a collection point for social grants.

Post office closures and pending liquidation could have something to do with this swift change, which encourages South Africans to add their bank accounts (or go somewhere else for their grant payment).
SASSA: THE FAMOUS POSTBANK BLUNDER
In 2023, grant recipients were already left in the dark when payments weren’t processed correctly through the Postbank system.

While the issue was solved, it still left thousands of South Africans without their rightful grants at the right time.
The famous Postbank blunder might have lost some confidence in the system, which SASSA seems determined to get back by offering alternatives (like bank account payments) for recipients.
GETTING YOUR SOCIAL GRANT
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) allows grant recipients several ways to access their funds, including direct bank account payments or collection from a Regional Office.
