Old Spur menu with low prices resurfaces
‘Back when they had those salad tables, yoh what a time to be alive,’ an X user said about an old Spur menu with everything lower than R20.
Most people in South Africa are struggling to get by. The situation has gotten to a point where there is simply no money for luxuries and barely enough for necessities. Even extensive saving doesn’t keep tough times at bay and unfortunately things don’t look like it will be improving anytime soon. An old Spur menu has therefore left locals feeling all sort of nostalgic.
On the menu, meals which now go for hundreds of rands were priced at around R10 and R12 each with nothing over R20. This was a big shock to locals who now spend over R1000 going out to eat as a family of four.

OLD SPUR MENU LEAVES MZANSI IN THEIR FEELS
Years ago, going to the shops didn’t mean breaking the bank. Even eating out wasn’t considered that big of a deal.
While the wages weren’t the highest, it was certainly enough to get South African families through the month.
These days, many South African families have been forced to make budget cuts and are no longer enjoying things like eating out or visiting a cinema.

A few months ago, many were left feeling nostalgic after an X user shared a snap of an old Pick n Pay slip from 1992.
On the slip, no grocery item went over R5.
And now an X user has shared a photo of a Spur menu. On the menu, all of Mzansi’s favourite meals including lamb chops and steak don’t cost over R20.

THE GOOD OL’ DAYS
Many in the comments section couldn’t help but share how they miss the old days whinging out didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
A lot of them pondered on the idea of buying their favourite dishes for R10 and R12.
“Salad valley and those sizzling steak plates! I lived in ENVY as a child eating my little margarita kids pizza while my parents vibed with that shit” one person said while another added:
“oh to get lamb chops for R13.”
