If you’re into moon events, then there’s something very special to look up for this October.

A full event will happen later this month, but it’s not just any kind of lunar event. This type is called the Hunter’s Moon, and it only happens during this time of the year.

Here’s why this type of lunar event is special, and why it’s called by different names in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere.

THE NEXT FULL MOON FOR 2023

According to the website Mooninfo.org, the next full lunar event happens on October 28, 2023.

The event will happen on Saturday evening at the end of this month, which means that it’s a good time to get your camera ready and look up.

ABOUT THE HUNTER’S MOON

According to the website Time and Date, this is called the Hunter’s Moon.

Unfortunately, this is only the right name for the lunar phase in the Northern Hemisphere! It’s also a song by the metal band Ghost.

In the Southern Hemisphere, the Hunter is called the Pink Moon instead.

This is because the seasons are different in the hemispheres.

Where October marks the hunting season for those in the Northern parts of the globe, the Southern parts of the world mark it as spring.

Just in case you’re wondering, November’s event will be called the Beaver or Flower, depending on where int the world you’re reading this from.
