The Cape Town Kite Festival takes place on Sunday 29 October 2023 at Melkbosstrand against the magnificent backdrop of Table Mountain. The festival is the brainchild of Cape Mental Health and you can click the link if you’d like to make a donation or find out more detail.

The weather for the Kite Festival is looking good on the day, in that there should be a stiff South Easterly wind. Cape Mental Health says age is no barrier to attend the Cape Town Kite Festival, no matter if you’re young or young at heart the kites will soar high into the sky.

Kite fans can visit the festival website to check activities for the day. There will be community flying, which means you can bring your own kite and join in on the fun. Likewise, there’s an inclusive EduKite competition for learners from mainstream primary schools, as well as schools for children with special needs.

There will be lots of activities for the whole family on the day. There will kites for sale, classes on how to build kites and much more. All funds go towards Cape Mental Health, which is a free mental healthcare service. It conducts tele-counseling as well as mental health interventions across the province.
